| bubu is the new monthly men only bear club night held on the first Friday of every month in Dubarrys Bar, Belfast. The event is for guys of all shapes and sizes in Belfast and something different for the gay community in Northern Ireland. We aim to offer all of our customers a friendly attitude, great music and a value for money dance, cruise and booze night out. bubu has a mixed following of Bears, Cubs, Chubs, Muscle bears, their admirers and guys who like the company of other men. Although we are a bear event we aim to be inclusive of all men who want something different than the current offerings on the gay scene here. The music played on a bubu night won't be your standard Twinkie cheesy pop, it will be a mix of current and classic club beats with a sprinkling of quality pop music. bubu was started by two young cubs from Belfast who loved going out to the big bear clubs in London, Manchester and Birmingham. They enjoyed the non judgemental, easy going attitude and fun atmosphere those clubs offered and sought to recreate that here in Belfast. In Janurary 2010 the boys stood down as the event's showrunners and promoters to pursue other careers but the show goes on with Robert Brown formerly of Bear Force One holding the reins. Be yoU, Be yoUrself - That is what bubu really means... This is what the night is all about, having fun and being yourself. We hope you enjoy our Bear nights, we aim to grow the event every month and to give back to the community which will support that growth. We are starting small but we have big dreams and ideas for the future. Hugs, The bubu Boys.x |

| About the Venue - Dubarrys Bar Dubarrys Bar is a Fairy tale come true. Situated on the site of former nightclub, The Factory in Gresham Street, Dubarrys opened it's doors on Saturday 5th August 2006. The downstairs lounge area's classy black and gold decor, with big mirrors and paintings of naked men, provides the perfect backdrop for the older, more sophisticated crowd and younger types of similar style. The middle level is all about dancing, while the top floor exudes a more chilled out, chintzy Moroccan feel. Situated in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter, it brings a touch of glamour and class to Belfast's gay scene. |
